Word has it that there isn't a generator to be had in this county in any store...
Today I was talking to a woman in Giant and she had never heard of the idea of filling up the bath tub for flushing the toilet, should electric go down.
Any other tips out there?
Be safe everyone?
Thanks for the post Keith!

It's going to be a long week for us, I'm afraid. Every fire station is expected to be manned beginning sometime Monday afternoon until probably Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
The stuff I'm getting from PEMA is not looking good for Lycoming County. This storm could stall right over us and then creep North. This could be a repeat of last September. The storm will be right over the Muncy, Loyalsock, and Lycoming Creeks and head North.
My members spent most of the afternoon checking equipment around the firehouse and preparing for the worst. Fresh fuel in everything, chains sharpened, generators and pumps ran,...we're as ready as we're going to be. Everything is ready at my house for this storm as well.
I can say that there is not a D size battery to be found in the area. We looked everywhere! No generators anywhere either. I did see a sign at Gander Mountain that they would have some at 0900 Monday on a first come, first served, basis for $449.00. It didn't say what size though. I saw some cheap flashlights in gander mountain that we gave out as gifts for sale at $21.99! We paid around $2 a piece for them.
While we were fueling our spare generators at the Sunoco at 15 & 54 today, at least 8 people asked to purchase them.
Stay safe kids. This one's gonna get rough. I'm expecting the worst to be a significant loss of power for close to a week. We can handle the rain if it doesn't come all at once.

Well. We surely dodged that storm. Nothing more than a bunch of trees down and a loss of power in the area for about 14 hours. No big deal really.
Some of the photos of NY and NJ are devastating. So glad that Sandy "missed" this area but, can't help thinking about the people in the affected areas. What a mess.
