Chief, if you responded to the fire at Heatherbrooke Est. yesterday evening, you were across the street and four or five houses down from my place. I was surprised how fast the fire spread and how intense it was. We sure had a lot of response from fire companies.
Mike, you must know the owners of the place; they’re guards at the prison.

Phil, I personally was not there but our tanker truck was called to it. My brother was the driver and one of our Captains was along with him. They said that they were told the owner was cooking on the porch with a grill and somehow, it caught the porch and then the home on fire. The paper today states that the owner was asleep inside when the neighbor alerted them to the fire. Good thing for them.
Paper also mentioned about the cats. Dave, my captain, said that long after the fire was under control, firemen came carrying cats out of the building that were still alive. He was joking that the one cat had a death grip on the firefighter's gear when he tried to pass it off to someone. I'm not sure where they might have been hiding but wherever it was, it was a good spot!
I thought that you lived in town, Phil. I didn't know you were in Heatherbrooke. That's probably one of the nicest parks that I've ever seen. Had the opportunity to meet the owner several years ago when we were both fighting over a bulldozer at an auction way up North somewhere. I didn't plan to buy it that day but I won the auction and he offered to haul it home for me. Nice folks.

The story I got at the scene, from other neighbors, was that someone ignited a gas grill with the lid closed and the resulting blast started the deck on fire and it spread to the home. As more facts come out I’ll post them.
Did you know that our park owners were in an accident last year while riding with a group of motorcycles? Kenny lost a leg and Donna came close to losing one of hers. When Kenny and I were talking about the accident, he let me know his Harley didn’t get a scratch though.

Yeah, Phil, I apparently know a LOT of people there, but I have no idea where it is. I know Maurice George, the person who had the fire, Sandy Jezelnek (spelling?) and Luanne Williams and I think you said Molly Applegate lives there also. M George has been through the ringer the last few years with her health, I think a car accident where she was rear ended and now this fire.

We’re on 405 across from Trout Pond Park.
I didn’t know them personally, but Molly talked about them as friends and we always waved to each other.

I just came in from my walk and found out that the gas grill story is questionable and Maurice thought it might have started in the dryer, which is in the rear of the house and may vent around the deck where the fire apparently started. They are investigating it now so maybe better information will surface soon.

I think I read on Luanne's facebook that they thought it started around the dryer. But whatever the cause, George sure has been through it the last few years.
Sandy and Luanne live together and what a hoot those two are. They're the kind of people who are quick to tell you how they feel in no uncertain terms. But funny, oh my gosh they're funny. They'd give you the clothes right off their back if ya needed it. Really good people if ya ever get the chance to know them.

I’m obviously confused on the names, but the white girl moved in with her dad when her mom died a while back, so the black girl was living there alone when the fire started.
Everyone in the neighborhood seems to like them.

I don't know what George's (the black girl) living arrangements were. I do know that Sandy and Luanne live together in a place of their own. Sorry if I confused you,

You haven’t confused me Mike, I don’t know them personally and I’m getting conflicting information from several sources. I guess what matters is that George (the black girl) was living in the house alone at the time of the fire. We all contributed to a collection for her. I hope it helps her out a little bit.
