How about that tremor this afternoon? Shook the whole sofa, felt it coming through the floor. Weird feeling.

I was outside running the weed-eater and missed the whole thing. My wife and neighbors felt it though.

We were sitting at the fire station and I felt the chair move and the person next to me said "Why am I shaking?" I said it must be the paving roller that was working out front and then the news broke in saying about the quake in VA. At the same time, the fire radio went nuts. Apparently, a lot of people at Little League felt it and it spooked everyone.

This has a lighter note from someone who has a sick sense of humor sometimes...but having lived in both Japan and CA, both notorious for their earthquakes, I knew what was happening immediately. But, this is the part that was too funny. When we lost our home and decided to rent, our landlord is typical..doesn't do anything until he has to. But this home has a cracked foundation already and he has been coming over off and on and raising the steel beam with a raiser of sorts. Today, my first thought was....when the shaking started...oh my.....he's pushed this raising to the limit, the house is starting to split wide open. The thing is, I was sitting right on top of where the steel beam is located in the basement so I guess if my thinking was right, I could have fallen either side. ;D
Then when the entire home was shaking and the TV on the wall was moving in sync with the vibration, I knew we were in an earthquake. Many people want to cover, but in an earthquake, we were always taught to get out of a building. So, I looked around quickly and the first and only thing I grabbed was my cell phone. I called my son immediately in CT, before I heard any news yet and they got hit up there. Strange thing about earthquakes....they can be felt here and not two blocks away or they can reach for miles. God has His way with what we call nature. It explains things like tornadoes or any natural disaster where one person standing right next to you can die instantly, but a baby can be swept out of the arms of the parents (as in Japan) but reunited a day later because of the wings of angels. Nothing is an accident., nothing.

BREAKING NEWS: The President has just confirmed that the DC earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault-line, apparently known as "Bush's Fault". The President also announced that the Secret Service and Maxine Waters continues an investigation of the quake's suspicious ties to the Tea Party. Conservatives however have proven that it was caused by the founding fathers rolling over in their graves. ;D
